The key element of the advisory referendum is property tax relief.  The average homeowner lives in a home valued at approximately $150,000.  If the State Legislature allowed Milwaukee County to shift support for these critical public services to a small increase in the sales and use tax homeowners would notice a significant reduction in their tax bill at the end of the year.
